CLASSICAL PILATES

"Pilates will always be good. It's never going out of style."

- Eve Gentry, 1st generation Pilates elder

Joseph Pilates created the classical order of Pilates, which has been passed down through his students and successors. The method's strength lies in the specific sequence of exercises, each one building on the last. This approach maintains the original order of exercises and employs traditional Pilates equipment, including the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, and Wunda Chair.

One key advantage of following the classical order is that it provides a balanced and thorough workout. The sequence targets all areas of the body, ensuring that core muscles and both the upper and lower body are engaged evenly, which helps to prevent muscle imbalances and injuries. Additionally, the classical order challenges your body and promotes progression. With each exercise building on the previous one, you can enhance your strength and flexibility, advancing in practice.

The classical order is deeply rooted in tradition and history, reflecting the efficacy established by Joseph Pilates himself.“The classical order was developed by Joseph Pilates himself, and it’s the foundation of the work. It was developed over decades and with a lot of thought and refinement. It’s to balance the body, making sure that we’re working all of the muscle groups equally, so we don’t create imbalances that can lead to injury.” - Brook Siler

Many believe that the classical order of Pilates is the most effective way to practice. By adhering to this specific sequence, you can ensure comprehensive workout, challenge your limits, and connect with the rich tradition of Pilates. As a classically trained instructor, I remain faithful to the original method crafted by Joseph Pilates. Using a structured teaching method, emphasizing precise, controlled movements and an in-depth understanding of the original practice.
